WAR IN THE MARIANAS :00

My blog of the WWII in the Marianas :))

So my first picture is a Japanese bunker located near Dan dan airport. From what I've heard and learned, is that the Japanese soldiers used these bunkers as protection to shelter themselves away from the shooting and bombing. I hear they also would throw out grenades and have their guns pointed out. But now, the bunker is filthy and filled with trashed. It's such a tragedy people forgot and abused this historical site.

My second picture is taken up way in the North side near the beautiful mountains near the last command post. It is a Japanese monument where they honored the Japanese soldiers, however the scripts on the rock is written in Japanese so I am not too sure what it's saying. But one thing I can say is that I always get the chills and get creeped out every time we come visit this side of the island. This was the place where many honored people have died and I'm just scared I might see them. I can feel their presence so I always stay respectful. :)

My third picture is taken at the last command post. It is a national historic mark and from what my family have told me is that, this is the last post the Japanese soldiers have put up before deciding to head over to Bonzai and suicide cliff. It was really a tragedy.

This is another angle taken at the last command post. It could be seen that maybe Chief Aiken was the man in charge of this post. :0

This is a picture I took of the tank located in the last command post. It's smaller than usual, I think one person can be seated inside of it.

This is the CNMI veterans cemetery. In honor of the many great American soldiers that fought for our islands and has lost their lives. We honor them. :))

This is a Japanese monument that Honored the Japanese people that took their own lives so they wouldn't betray their homeland. On the rock the scriptures read, "Better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. -The words of Rev. Seizan kawakami"

I believe this is a Japanese prayer shrine located in Bonzai cliff for those that want to do a prayer for their lost loved ones.

This is another Japanese monument located at Bonzai cliff.

This was a monument built to honor all the people that have lost their lives during the war. A prayer sent that their spirits may rest and may there be no more conflicts in the world.

My last picture is the globe monument taken at Bonzai from a different angle. You can see the beautiful ocean behind, where they many spirits rest.
